Whistler BC · Comfortably Numb Trail
Technical, challenging and almost entirely singletrack. Choose the iconic 25K Comfortably Numb course or take on the 50K for two very different sides of Whistler trail running.
The Iconic Course
The 25K is arguably one of the most beautiful point-to-point races in British Columbia. The Run Comfy Numb course is mostly run on the internationally recognized and iconic mountain bike route, Comfortably Numb Trail. It’s a black diamond technical trail.
The trail climbs steadily from the start, but it feels up and down, rocky and rooty with twists and turns. It’s not a steep climb, but it is steady. It is a very tough trail. If you’re looking for easy, this is not the race for you. If you’re looking for challenge and an absolutely epic trail — sign on up!
Expect rolling rocks, a lot of bridgework, a beautiful bridge crossing, numerous sweeping vistas, and almost 100% singletrack.
Runners will complete the entire Comfortably Numb Trail and descend down to Lost Lake. Then there’s the final climb through some of Lost Lake’s finest blue and green trails as you make your way to the finish line in Spruce Grove Park.
Important: once you’re on the trail there is only one easy evacuation point at the Jeff’s Trail aid station at approximately 8km. It is still around a 10-minute walk to the FSR. After that point it is very hard to drop out.
Two Very Different Trail Experiences
First you run north along the Sea to Sky Trail through the spectacular Gord’s Garden, on green, non-technical trails. It’s faster and more flowy. It’s a stark contrast with what comes next.
After returning south to where you started, you then begin the Comfortably Numb Trail as above — the iconic black diamond mountain bike trail that has rocks, roots, bridgework and is a solidly challenging run.
So if you’re considering going up in distance, know that it’s not doubly hard. You get two sections of trail that are vastly different. The best of both run worlds!
